Apple is preparing to launch a new generation of iPad Pro and MacBook Pro devices during the first half of 2027, marking another major refresh of its professional hardware lineup, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
The report states that Apple is currently developing four new iPad Pro models, all expected to feature faster and more power-efficient processors designed to enhance productivity, creative workflows, and demanding professional tasks.
New MacBook Pro Powered by the M7 Chip
In addition to the new iPad Pro lineup, Apple is reportedly working on a new MacBook Pro carrying the internal codename K104. The device is expected to target the entry-level segment of the MacBook Pro family while remaining a full-fledged professional laptop rather than a stripped-down variant.
Bloomberg also reports that Apple is aiming to introduce its next-generation M7 chip during the same timeframe. The new Apple Silicon processor is expected to deliver another significant leap in performance and energy efficiency, continuing the company’s transition toward increasingly powerful in-house chips.
Apple Continues to Expand Its Mac and iPad Portfolio
Apple last refreshed the iPad Pro lineup in October, followed by the launch of an updated MacBook Pro and the budget-friendly MacBook Neo in March, the latter powered by the A18 chip originally developed for the iPhone.
According to the report, the upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to remain a fully featured professional notebook rather than a lower-tier version of the series, giving users another option within Apple’s premium laptop lineup.
Broader Product Roadmap
The reported launches come as Apple continues to work on several high-profile projects, including its long-rumored foldable iPhone, while also preparing for the company’s next leadership era beyond CEO Tim Cook.
At the same time, Apple continues to navigate supply chain challenges and rising manufacturing costs. Tim Cook has previously acknowledged that these pressures contributed to price increases across several Apple products.
One example is the MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage, whose price increased from $1,699 to $1,999.
Analysis: A Strategy Focused on Performance and Market Expansion
If Bloomberg’s report proves accurate, Apple’s 2027 roadmap could represent more than a routine hardware refresh. The company appears to be refining its professional product lineup while expanding its appeal to a broader range of customers.
A more accessible entry-level MacBook Pro could attract users seeking professional-grade features without paying for higher-end configurations, particularly after recent price increases across the Mac lineup.
Meanwhile, introducing four new iPad Pro models signals Apple’s continued confidence in the premium tablet market, where demand remains strong among creative professionals, designers, video editors, and business users.
The M7 chip is also expected to be one of the biggest highlights of the refresh. While Apple has yet to reveal any official details, industry expectations point to improvements in artificial intelligence capabilities, performance, and power efficiency—areas that have become increasingly important across the technology industry.
Although Apple has not officially confirmed these plans, Bloomberg’s report suggests that 2027 could become one of the company’s most significant hardware refresh cycles in recent years, combining next-generation Apple Silicon with an expanded portfolio of professional devices.
